Mills Black LLP Welcomes Imran O. Shaukat as Partner
Mills Black LLP is pleased to announce that Imran O. Shaukat has joined the firm as a Partner and brings with him over a decade of maritime and transportation litigation experience.
Imran previously served as chair of the maritime department at a large law firm in Baltimore, Maryland. He has considerable maritime experience in matters involving personal injury, cargo damage, contract disputes, collisions and allisions, charterparty disputes, detention and demurrage issues, marine insurance disputes, recreational boating and marina claims, and maritime arrest and attachment proceedings. In addition to Imran’s maritime practice, he advises companies and individuals in various business disputes.
Imran’s commitment to the local maritime community can also be seen through his work with several non-profit organizations and trade associations. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Baltimore International Seafarers’ Center and the Propeller Club of Baltimore, is a Past President and current Governor of the Traffic Club of Baltimore, and is a member of the Maryland Center for History and Culture’s Maritime Subcommittee, He also serves on the Executive Committee of Pride of Baltimore, Inc., the 501(c)(3) organization that owns and operates the topsail schooner PRIDE OF BALTIMORE II.
In addition to his local maritime involvement, Imran is actively involved in national maritime organizations. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Maritime Law Association of the United States and as Chair of the MLA’s Continuing Legal Education Committee. He is also a past board member of the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute.

Imran is a graduate of the McDonogh School. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland at College Park and his law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he served on the executive board of the Law Review and as President of the Moot Court Board. He is licensed to practice law in Maryland and Washington DC.
