IMRAN O. SHAUKAT, Partner

Imran O. Shaukat is a member of Mills Black’s maritime practice. He is licensed to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia. He has extensive experience in maritime and commercial litigation matters, including personal injury, cargo damage, contract disputes, collisions and allisions, charterparty disputes, detention and demurrage issues, marine insurance disputes, recreational boating and marina claims, and maritime arrest and attachment proceedings. In addition to his maritime practice, he advises companies and individuals in various business disputes.

Imran is actively involved in several local maritime and transportation organizations. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Baltimore International Seafarers’ Center and the Propeller Club of Baltimore, is a Past President and current Governor of the Traffic Club of Baltimore and is a member of the Maryland Center for History and Culture’s Maritime Subcommittee. He also serves on the Executive Committee of Pride of Baltimore, Inc., the organization that owns and operates the topsail schooner PRIDE OF BALTIMORE II. 

Nationally, Imran currently serves as a Director of the Maritime Law Association of the United States and is also the Chair of the MLA’s CLE committee.

Imran is a graduate of the London School of Economics, the University of Maryland, and the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he was President of the Moot Court Board and Symposium Editor on the Executive Board of the University of Baltimore Law Review. In recognition of his service to the School of Law, he received the Dean’s Citation for Service.

Imran has been recognized in Maryland Super Lawyers ®, Maryland Rising Stars, and Best Lawyers.  He is a frequent speaker and author on maritime and commercial topics, and practices in federal and state courts in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
